Day 1

 

• Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Rohru to Jiskun, a charming village nestled amidst the pine-covered slopes of Himachal.
• The 85 km journey takes around 5 hours, revealing winding mountain roads, apple orchards, and panoramic views of the Pabbar Valley.
• The pickup from Rohru is available at 1:00 PM and ensures you reach Jiskun comfortably by evening.
• Upon arrival, settle into the basecamp, meet your trek leader, and enjoy a warm dinner.
• The evening is reserved for a short briefing session and acclimatization before your journey into the wild Himalayas begins tomorrow.

 

Day 2

 

• After a hearty breakfast, you begin your first day of trekking from Jiskun to Jakha — the highest and last inhabited village of the Rupin Valley.
• The 5 km trail winds through dense forests, traditional wooden houses, and scenic farmlands.
• As you ascend gradually, you’ll notice the blend of Hindu and Buddhist cultures in the village architecture and prayer flags.
• The crisp mountain air and the sound of the Rupin River below make this trek an ideal warm-up.
• Upon reaching Jakha, enjoy hot tea and rest in cozy tents surrounded by snow-capped peaks and alpine charm.

 

Day 3

 

• Today’s 8 km trek takes you deeper into the wilderness, leaving behind the last traces of human settlement.
• The trail descends briefly through forested patches before opening up into wide meadows dotted with wildflowers and rhododendrons.
• You’ll cross rustic wooden bridges and walk along the gushing Rupin River. As you gain altitude, the scenery transitions into a breathtaking alpine landscape with towering cliffs and distant waterfalls. By afternoon, you’ll reach the enchanting Saruwas Thatch campsite — a pristine grassland surrounded by high ridges. Enjoy a serene evening under a starlit sky, with the sound of nature all around.

 

Day 4

 

• Today’s short 3.5 km trek is as scenic as it is rewarding. The trail takes you through lush meadows, past grazing sheep, and across glacial streams before revealing the stunning Dhanderas Thatch — a vast valley encircled by snow-laden peaks.
• Known as one of the most beautiful campsites on the Rupin Pass trek, Dhanderas Thatch offers breathtaking views of multiple waterfalls cascading down the cliffs, including the famous Lower and Upper Rupin waterfalls.
• Reach by early afternoon, relax, and soak in the raw beauty of the surroundings as you prepare for the higher altitudes ahead.

 

Day 5

 

• The day begins with a thrilling ascent towards the Upper Waterfall campsite.
• Though just 3 km long, the trek is steep and demanding, with several snow patches and boulder climbs.
• You’ll cross the roaring Rupin stream via makeshift wooden bridges and zigzag up the final stretch alongside the magnificent waterfall.
• The Upper Waterfall campsite, perched at 13,275 ft, offers surreal views of the Rupin Valley below and the snowfields leading to the pass above.
• This is the final high-altitude camp before the pass crossing — rest well, hydrate, and gear up for the big day ahead.

 

Day 6

 

• Today is the most exciting and challenging part of the trek — crossing the mighty Rupin Pass!
• The 10 km journey begins early morning with a steep ascent over snowfields and rocky terrain.
• As you reach the top at 15,279 ft, you’re rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Kinnaur and Uttarakhand ranges.
• After spending some time soaking in the beauty and triumph, begin your descent towards Ronti Gad, a stunning campsite nestled amidst meadows and glacial streams.
• The long 10–11 hour trek ends with a sense of accomplishment and a well-deserved rest under the stars.

 

Day 7

 

• Your final day begins with a scenic descent from Ronti Gad to Sangla Kanda, a picturesque meadow overlooking the Baspa Valley.
• The 5 km trail offers spectacular views of the Kinnaur peaks and the vibrant Sangla village below.
• Upon arrival in Sangla, conclude the trek and board the vehicle for your return journey to Shimla. Transportation from Sangla to Shimla is available at an additional cost and must be confirmed in advance by members wishing to avail the service.
