Day 1
- Report at the Kailashrath Treks base camp by afternoon and check in to the hotel for a comfortable stay.
- After documentation and verification, take some time to rest and settle in.Post Lunch, head out for a short acclimatization walk around the base camp to help your body adjust to the altitude.
- This is followed by a detailed orientation session where the trek leader briefs you about the route, safety measures, gear check, and what to expect in the coming days.Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel..
Day 2
- After breakfast, you'll drive from Prini to Jobra, the starting point of the trek.
- From here, a beautiful trail through pine, maple, and silver birch forests leads you to Chikka, the first campsite.
- The trek is gentle and scenic, following the Rani Nallah stream with lush meadows and wooden bridges along the way.
- Wildflowers and waterfalls add to the charm of the trail. Chikka, located at around 10,400 ft, offers a serene riverside camping experience surrounded by towering mountains. The day’s hike takes around 2–3 hours.
- Overnight stay in tents at Chikka.
Day 3
- Today’s trek follows the valley deeper into the mountains with stunning views of rocky outcrops and snow-capped peaks.
- You’ll cross several streams, walk over boulders, and navigate gentle ascents along the way.
- The trail gradually opens up to the vast alpine plain known as Balu Ka Ghera, meaning "bed of sand," due to the river sediments in the area. Situated at an altitude of 12,200 ft, this campsite offers breathtaking views and a tranquil environment.
- The 5 km trek takes around 6–7 hours, giving trekkers plenty of time to rest and prepare for the pass crossing. Overnight in tents.
Day 4
- This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek.
- The day starts early with a steep ascent to Hamta Pass (14,065 ft), offering incredible panoramic views of the Kullu and Lahaul valleys.
- The terrain is rugged with loose rocks, snow patches, and high winds at the pass.
- After soaking in the views, descend carefully to the Shea Goru valley, a dramatic shift in landscape with barren mountains and glacier-fed streams.
- The 8 km trek takes around 8–9 hours. Shea Goru, at 12,600 ft, is cold but scenic, offering a peaceful spot for the night.
- Overnight in tents at Shea Goru.
Day 5
- Descend from Shea Goru to Chhatru (10,800 ft) over 7 km of rocky, moraine-laden terrain.
- The descent takes about 4 hours and includes glacial stream crossings.
- Upon reaching Chhatru, vehicles will be waiting to take you on a scenic 3–4 hour drive to Chandratal Lake, depending on road conditions. Members can get their extra luggage here at Chhatru.
- Known as the ‘Moon Lake’, Chandratal is a surreal, turquoise-colored high-altitude lake in Spiti.
- After spending time at the lake, you’ll return to Chhatru for the night. This day combines trekking and off-road adventure through the stark beauty of the Spiti Valley.
- Overnight stay in tents at Chhatru.
Day 6
- After breakfast, begin your return journey to Manali via the newly constructed Atal Tunnel, which cuts through the Pir Panjal range.
- The 60 km drive takes around 4 hours, passing through the striking landscapes of Lahaul before re-entering the greenery of Kullu Valley.
- You'll be dropped at Beas Bridge in Manali by 1:00 PM, marking the end of your Hamta Pass and Chandratal adventure.
- You can plan your onward travel for later in the afternoon.
- The journey leaves you with memories of varied terrains, high-altitude passes, pristine lakes, and an experience of a lifetime in the Himalayas.
